CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government will disburse P19.6 million for the second tranche of financial assistance to registered persons with disability in the city on Saturday.
Department of Social Welfare and Services head Lea Japson said all 9,800 registered PWDs will get their P2,000 financial assistance. Every year, she said the registered PWDs in the city will receive P7,000 cash aid from the city government.
“This is the second tranche kay nakahatag nata og P2,000 sa first tranche and another P2,000 for the second tranche,” she told reporters.
Japson said the city government is giving the cash assistance in a quarterly basis. The remaining P3,000 assistance will be given in September and December. An original identification card should be presented to claim the assistance. The distribution will be done in the respective barangay complex or school.
“Sa dili makakuha sa ilang assistance sa Sabado, kinahanglan nilang kuhaon sa City Hall within 10 days,” she said.
Japson said all PWDs usually get their assistance on the day of the distribution except those who are bedridden. For the bedridden PWDs, she said disbursing officers will visit them in their houses to give their cash assistance.
In the previous years, registered PWDs only get P5,000 cash aid from the city. But, through an ordinance, the city government increased it to P7,000.
Meanwhile, the senior citizens will also get their cash aid on the third or last week of June since there are other activities laid for the city government employees. Japson said she has yet to see the availability of disbursing officers for the release of the P1,000 cash aid to over 67,000 registered senior citizens.
