Doria assures: Reshuffling won’t affect poll security
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) director Senior Supt. Joel Doria has assured that their security preparations will not be affected by the temporary reassignments of the 33 policemen who have relatives running for the May 14 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
“Hindi naman makakaapekto kasi we anticipated naman mga ganyang issue,” Doria said.
Doria said the temporary relief of the 33 cops is part of the measures to ensure clean and peaceful elections.
“Yung may mga kamag-anak kung saan sila na assign is nagkaroon tayo nga reshuffle and we see to it na hindi sila makaimpluwensiya sa incoming na election,“ Doria explained.
Doria said they were supposed to be reassigned outside Cebu City but was later decided to just have them transferred to another station away from the barangay where their relatives are candidates.
Doria said they will give the list of personnel affected by the temporary reshuffling to the Commission on Elections. Meanwhile, Doria said there will be 500 CCPO personnel to be deployed outside of the city as augmentation force in the areas under Comelec watchlist.
“Five hundred CCPO (personnel) will be deployed sa province, we provided security plan and hopefully wala na tayong problema,” Doria said. (FREEMAN)
