CEBU, Philippines — Commuters and motorists going to and coming from Cebu south are advised to brace for heavy traffic today in Talisay City.
The city government will close portion of Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) for eight hours from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the annual Gullas Run and Bike Race, which is part of the city’s fiesta celebration in honor of saint Santa Teresa de Avila on October 15.
Engineer Almond Dela Peña, City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CT-TODA) operations head, said the three-lane seaside road will be closed to traffic.
The closure will start from Congressman Antonio Bacaltos Sr. Avenue to Rabaya Street junction in Barangay San Roque, stretching 2.5 kilometers.
The Cebu City-bound lane will be open to two-way traffic.
"Hangyo ngadto sa mga bus drivers ug operators nga ila ibutang sa schedule this Sunday nga magbinantayon inig agi sa CSCR kay we will use the mountain side as two-way traffic," he said.
The tricycles and jeepneys plying along the interior portions of the city like in Barangays Dumlog and Poblacion may traverse CSCR going to Barangay Tabunok, but only during intervals.
At least 21 enforcers will be deployed to man the traffic on CSCR.
Dela Peña said he also coordinated with some barangay officials for the deployment of barangay tanods during the race.
He said traffic is expected to return to normal past 1 in the afternoon. (FREEMAN)
