CEBU, Philippines - Two persons were killed when the motorcycle they were riding was run over by a six-wheeler truck in Poblacion Ward 3 National Highway Minglanilla around 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday.
Roque Alvares, 22, the motorcycle driver, was killed on the spot while his back rider, Jovelyn Venida, was declared dead on arrival at the South General Hospital.
Traffic Investigator PO1 Lord Cañada said that both vehicles were travelling in same direction heading to Naga City when Alvares tried to overtake on the right side of the truck, which was driven by Conrado Salin, 53.
However, the motorcycle hit the right bumper of the truck, causing him and his back rider to crash and hit the pavement.
Since Salin did not notice the motorcycle, he continued to drive causing him to run over the victims.
Police said both victims were not wearing helmets during the incident and their motorcycle did not have a plate number.
