CEBU, Philippines - A 29-year-old alleged drug pusher was apprehended after one of his relatives agreed to work with the police for his arrest.
Jonry Mayol, who is reportedly a level two drug pusher, is detained at the Cebu City Police Office after he allegedly handed over a small pack of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in a drug operation in Barangay Pung-ol Sibugay, Cebu City Friday afternoon.
Mayol later yielded 14 small packs of suspected shabu amounting to almost P300,000, based on the Dangerous Drugs Board value.
According to Senior Inspector Avergonzado, chief of the Cebu City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group, Mayol was very cautious in selling illegal drugs to strangers.
He said after knowing that some of Mayol’s re-latives were against his illegal activity, they immediately requested one of them to accompany their poseur-buyer during the buy-bust operation so that Mayol would not think that it was a trap.
Avergonzado said their surveillance and monitoring on Mayol lasted for around three months since the subject was elusive and would transfer from one place to another.
He said Mayol is one of the Top 10 illegal drug personalities recorded in their office and has been in the illegal trade for more than a year already.
He said the wives of some motorcycle-for-hire drivers in the area complained about Mayol’s drug peddling. “Nakabantay na man pud sila kay ang kita sa ilang bana, dili man ihatag sa ilaha. Adto man hinuon ipalit og shabu. Looy sad kaayo,” he said. Mayol reportedly sells vegetables as a front for his illegal activity.
Thirty-year-old Deomar Cano-os, who was believed to be on his way to buy and use illegal drugs from Mayol, was also arrested after he yielded drug paraphernalia.
