Christmas bonus out today: More cash for Capitol workers

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Treasurer’s Office has confirmed that the Capitol’s 1,400 employees will get “another wave” of cash incentive worth P15,000 today.

“Karon (yesterday) pa naabot. Naabot naman ang payroll, possible nga ugma (today) na madawat sa mga tawo,” Administrative Assistant Dominic Castroverde told The FREEMAN.

The bonuses will be given to both casual and regular employees as well as to the elected officials of the provincial government.

“Gikan sa among office, i-approve ang payroll and the following day ma-transfer sa banko,” said Castroverde.

This developed after the Provincial Board approved Thursday last week during a special session the P235.4-million supplemental budget, that includes P20 million for the employee’s yearend cash incentive and P198 million the purchase of heavy equipment for the repair of roads and other infrastructures.

“Maglingkod pa ko, mag-process pa unya na pay pirmahanan. Mga ugma (today) possible na siya (bonus),” Castroverde added.

The amount the employees would get is the fifth of such kind they received within the year, or a total average of P70,000 bonuses in all.  In particular, the employees already got their Productivity Enhancement Incentive (P5,000), Collective Negotiation Agreement bonus, anniversary bonus, and 13th month pay.

The P15,000 is granted under the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence, an award system the Capitol has adopted. The Capitol decided to give the amount after Cebu was recognized as the third most competitive province by the National Competitiveness Council.

“Nalipay kaayo ko kahit papaano naay ikapalit og pinaskuhan for the family and naa sad tay ika-set aside na money as savings,” said Lianne Llesol of the Provincial Information Office. —(FREEMAN)
