CEBU, Philippines - A 21-year-old man is facing a criminal charge in court after the prosecutor’s office found a probable cause in the allegation that he raped his minor cousin.
Prosecutor Rhodna Bacatan held the accused, whose name is withheld by The Freeman, for trial for two counts of rape. The accused is a resident of Cebu City.
The accused manifested during the inquest proceedings that he will waive his right to avail of the preliminary investigation and opted to answer the case in court.
No bail was recommended by the prosecutor for the accused’s temporary liberty.
The mother of the 15-year-old victim said that on December 13, while on their way to Bohol, she received a call from her son telling them to return home because his sister was molested by their cousin.
They reported the incident to the police, resulting in the arrest of the accused. (FREEMAN)
