APEC security personnel to get quality food – PRO-7

Ma. Fatima R. Secuya/FPL - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Learning from experience, Police Regional Office-7 officials are making sure that police personnel deployed to secure the delegates to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings are served with quality food.

Senior Superintendent Rey Lyndon Lawas, chief regional directorial staff, said the PRO-7 now has a food committee headed by Senior Superintendent Edward Paras to take charge of the quality of the food supply.

“As you can see, this is part of the innovation and the development that we have tried to come up for this time of conference because during the August and September meetings, nakita man nato nga usa kini sa problema ang kabahin sa pagkaon,” said Lawas.

The regional police headquarters invited its food caterers yesterday to discuss the concern about the quality of food served to the security personnel during the first round of the APEC meetings.

The six identified food suppliers were asked to present their menu for food tasting. Members of the media were also invited to taste the food.

“ And what we have agreed is that there will be the same menu that will be served by these identified caterers in any areas regardless if they are in Mandaue, Lapulapu or Cebu City,” said Lawas.

Lawas said this is to avoid complaints about different food quality. He said they have also agreed on the kind of menu which was approved by the dietician of the PNP.

Lawas said there will be two types of viands to be served for breakfast and dinner which include rice, fruits and bottled water. Lawas said that for lunch, three types of recipes will be served.

According to Lawas, they are also identifying those who do not eat pork and vegetables so that proper food arrangement can be made.  (FREEMAN)
