CEBU, Philippines - A former barangay councilwoman and her live-in partner were arrested during an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Masa, Dumanjug, Cebu on Tuesday.
Vicenta Pepito, 40, a widow and a former councilwoman of the same barangay, was arrested by operatives of Dumanjug Police Station together with her live-in partner Jason Entrina, 30.
According to Police Officer 1 Carlito Zulueta, desk officer of Dumanjug Police Station, they have been monitoring the illegal activity of Pepito and Entrina for several weeks already.
Zulueta said the live-in partners are operating in the barangay and their usual customers are their neighbors.
At around 8:30 a.m. last Tuesday, the couple was apprehended after they allegedly sold a small pack of suspected shabu to a police officer who posed as the poseur-buyer.
Policemen further seized three small and one medium pack of suspected shabu from the suspects’ possession. They also confiscated P2,680 cash from the suspect.
Meanwhile, on the same day in Barangay Mantalungon, Dalaguete town, policemen were also able to arrest an alleged illegal drug pusher and confiscated from him at least P42,000 worth of suspected shabu.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Maximo Perez, operatives of Dalaguete Police Station went to the residence of Maximo “Bardi” Belia.
During the operation, the police were able to confiscate 90 small packs of suspected shabu amounting to P42,480, as per Dangerous Drugs Board value.
Aside from the illegal drugs, a cal. 38 revolver loaded with live ammunition was also seized from the suspect.
Pepito, Entrina and Belia are now facing charges for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — (FREEMAN)
