CEBU, Philippines - At least two men drowned in two separate incidents in Cebu province.
One of the victims, a fisherman, reportedly fell from the boat Monday night in the seawaters between Madridejos, Cebu and Cogon Island in Iloilo City.
Dominador Pinote, 54, of Barangay Mahawak, Medellin was found dead floating in the waters off Madridejos town Wednesday afternoon.
The police, who were notified of the incident, went to a certain Renante Bolutano, 31, who was with Pinote at the time he fell from the fishing boat.
Bolutano told police that they went fishing in sea between Madridejos and Iloilo City on Monday night.
Pinote reportedly took a small block of ice but a big wave hit their boat that caused him to fell into the sea.
Bolutano and the other fishermen searched for Pinote for hours and had found his body floating in the seawaters off Madridejos town.
In Bantayan town, a man was found dead in a well in Barangay Sulangan on Wednesday.
The body of Jeffrey Alolor, 38, of sitio Punta, was found floating in a three-meter deep well by a resident who was fetching water.
Lylyn Pescante was about to fetch water from the well past 8 a.m. on Wednesday when she saw Alolor’s body.
She called for assistance from her neighbors, who rushed to extricate Alolor’s body from the well.
Alolor was brought to the Bantayan District Hospital where the attending physician declared him dead.
Police investigation revealed that a drunk Alolor was seen sleeping next to the well past 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
The police believed that he accidentally fell into the well while sleeping. (FREEMAN)
