Governor more concerned with Roxas’ victory than his own candidacy

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Believe it or not, but Cebu Governor Hilario “Junjun” Davide III, who is seeking for reelection, is more concern about DILG Secretary Mar Roxas’ winning in Cebu than his own victory.

Davide said that his winning the elections in 2016 is only secondary to Roxas.

“Ang akong katuyu-an gyud nga modaug si Secretary Mar Roxas dinhi.  Not just to win but to win big here in Cebu. Secondary ra ning akoa,” said Davide.

The governor explained that this is the reason why the Liberal Party in Cebu would welcome any support for Roxas.

“We will welcome anyone, LP o di LP. As much as possible kung kinsa ganahan mosuporta niya we will welcome them. Politics is an addition. That’s the paramount concern na para nako on how to ensure the victory of Mar Roxas,” said Davide.

Davide believes that Roxas is the only candidate deserving to be president.

“Siya ang gipiyalan ni Presidente Aquino nga mopadayon sa reporma nga iyaha na nga gisugdan,” said Davide.

Davide also anticipated that there would be some of his political supporters who will support another presidential candidate and there will be those who are not supporting him but support Roxas’s candidacy.

“We can expect nga naay maglagot, naay mahiubos but this is reality,” the governor said.

Meanwhile, Davide considered Winston Garcia as a formidable opponent in the gubernatorial race.

“Formidable uy. Very formidable, formidable, formidable not just him but also those who will be running for governor,” Davide said.

He said that if Garcia’s platform is to provide free medicine and cheaper cost of hospitalization, establishment of a free port and economic zone, all these are the current programs of his administration.  (FREEMAN)
