Cops who arrested rob, carnap suspects to get award
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Police Officer will award the police officers who arrested the suspects in the robbery and carnapping incidents in Lapu-Lapu City last week.
Sr. Supt. Noel Gillamac said he will award the cops from Samboan, Alcoy and Boljoon towns who captured the five suspects.
Marites Amit, a casino financier, and her house help, were tied up with their lips taped while the suspects took away valuables on March 23, 2015.
After Senior Superintendent Armando Radoc, director of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, coordinated with Provincial Police Office Director Noel Gillamac, the latter immediately alerted police stations in southern Cebu about five armed men on board a black Montero sports utility vehicle.
Around 1 p.m., while Alcoy Police Station Chief Jomar Medil and his men were manning a checkpoint along the national highway, the subject vehicle drove by but did not stop when flagged down, prompting a car chase.
Personnel from Boljoon and Oslob police stations also joined the chase and later helped in arresting Rodrigo Boyles, Khent Colanggo and Gary Jaylo, all from Bohol.
Police recovered two .45 pistols loaded with three magazines, the stolen SUV, and Amit’s items from the three suspects.
Meanwhile, police recovered a .40 pistol with 12 bullets, a KG-9 automatic rifle, P140,000 cash, and two mobile phones from Jericho John Francisco.
Rudy Adaya and Christopher Viña were arrested by Samboan Police Station Chief Luis Lacandula in coordination with Chief Inspector Rex who boarded a ferry bound for Dapitan City.
Gillamac said the speedy arrest of the suspects was possible because of the timely coordination between LLCPO and CPPO.
He recognized the efforts of his men in capturing the robbers and said that they deserve recognition. —JMO (FREEMAN)
