Body in sack found in San Fernando

CEBU, Philippines - A body of a woman stashed in a sack was found floating in the seawater off Barangay Panadtaran, San Fernando town Sunday evening.

The unidentified body, whose feet were tied with an electric wire, bore a gunshot wound in the head. The woman was wearing blue T-shirt and blue jeans and has a long hair.

Senior Police Officer 1 Rolando Bastida, desk officer, said that barangay tanods Arcadio Paner and Paterno Cañas reported at the police station past 9 p.m. Saturday that they found a body.

“Sa pagrespondi sa polis gibitad ang sako sa mama, nakita usa ka patay nga lawas sa babaye gihigtan ang tiil og wire. Posible nga gipusil kay naay agi pinusilan sa ulo, usa,” Bastida said.

Police Officer 1 Erwin Oyao, homicide investigator, said that the sack has foreign markings, prompting the police to believe that the body may have been thrown off from a foreign vessel.

The San Fernando Police Station has already coordinated with the other police stations to verify if there are reported missing persons in their area. (FREEMAN)
