CEBU, Philippines - An estimated P700,000 worth of illegal drugs was confiscated during a raid Wednesday evening at Barangay Suba, Cebu City.
Joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7, City Intelligence Branch, and Sawang Calero Police Station swooped down on the house of suspected level two drug pusher Jolly Inso to implement a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 18 Judge Gilbert Moises.
Inso eluded arrested but three of his alleged cohorts, Kevin Inso, Allan Alce, and Marcial Inso, were arrested during the raid. Marcial’s wife, Gina, was also invited for questioning.
The subject of the warrant managed to escape through a secret door in the comfort room of his house after he noticed the presence of the lawmen.
CIB chief, Supt. Romeo Santander, said they have placed Jolly under surveillance for three weeks before the operation. CIDG-7 deputy chief, Supt. Fermin Armendarez III, said they received information that the suspects are involved in illegal drug trade in the area.
The police seized 13 medium sachets and 91 small packs of suspected shabu. There was also P10,900 cash believed to be proceeds of the illegal drug trade.
At least 20 small packs of suspected shabu were recovered from Kevin and another 26 small packs from Alce. The police also confiscated .45 caliber pistol with one magazine loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition from Marcial.
Santander estimated the total street value of the drugs confiscated to be at P700,000.
Meanwhile, another two suspected drug pushers were arrested in a separate anti-illegal drug operation in Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City Wednesday night.
Peter Arroyo, 21, and John Michael Pepito, 18, were arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by the elements of CIB around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
The police confiscated 65 small packs of suspected shabu with estimated value of P21, 900. A pack of shabu subject of the buy-bust operation and a P300 marked money were also seized from Arroyo’s possession.
Another seven small packs of suspected shabu were seized from Pepito.
The two suspects are now detained at the Cebu City Police Office.— (FREEMAN)
