Man arrested for molesting girl

CEBU, Philippines - A 58-year-old man was arrested after he was accused of sexually molesting an 8-year-old girl in Barangay Sagay, Toledo City.

The suspect was identified as Carmelito Fernandez, resident of Barangay Tanibag, Pinamungajan.

Fernandez was arrested by Sagay Barangay Captain Jimbo Luza Saturday night after the mother of the victim reported what had happened to her daughter. Luza told The Freeman that the mother asked for assistance from the barangay after the girl reported that the suspect molested her.

The girl was allegedly crying as she was telling her ordeal. Luza said the suspect admitted fondling the girl’s private part but denied raping her. 

  The suspect was turned over to the police and is now detained at the Toledo City Police Station.

The victim was brought to the hospital for medical examination. (FREEMAN)
