Bantayan man dies after cockfight loss
CEBU, Philippines - A 55-year-old man met his untimely death Saturday when he collapsed after his fighting cock lost in a fight in Bantayan town.
The man, Miguel Ducay, was declared dead on arrival at the Bantayan District Hospital.
PO1 Joseph dela Cerna told The Freeman that Ducay was so happy that his first fighting cock won in a prior fight that he bet all his winnings on the second fighting cock.
Unfortunately, the second one lost and Ducay’s son, Rommel, 27, said his father might have been too upset for losing all his money.
It was Rommel who was in the coliseum who rushed Ducay to the hospital.
“Iya mang gi-shoot ilang tanang kwarta, katong daog sa unang manok sa ikaduha, pagkapildi naguol iyang amahan,” said dela Cerna.
Doctors at the hospital declared Ducay dead at 5 p.m. due to Cerebro Vascular Accident or stroke.
Ducay’s body was brought to Saint Peter’s Funeral Homes in Barangay Mojon, Bantayan town. (FREEMAN)
