CEBU, Philippines - Two men who were delivering cigarettes to the Liloan town were robbed and locked inside their vehicles Friday.
The victims – salesman Charles Stephen Racho, 27, and his driver, Noel Pojas, 29, of San Remigio town – were rescued by passersby who saw them shouting for help from inside their delivery truck.
They lost P30,000 cash, mobile phones, and their personal earnings to the robbers.
Investigation revealed that the two were delivering cigarettes in Barangay Upper San Vicente, Liloan when two men on board a Honda Wave motorcycle arrived and declared a holdup.
“Sa wala pa nilakaw gipakanaog silang duha unya gipasulod sa luyo unya gisirad-an,” said Liloan Police chief Sr. Insp. Ramil Morpos.
Racho’s wallet was reportedly recovered in Consolacion town.
The victims described the robbers as being in their 20s and 40s, respectively. The description reportedly fit that of previous robbery suspects in northern Cebu and in the Midwest areas.
“Mao man sagad gud ilang ingon nga batan-on ug gulangon ang magkuyog mao ni among tan-awn ron,” Morpos said.
Morpos will look also into the possibility that robbers could be co-employees of the victims.
Last Thursday, Petron gasoline station lost close to P35,000 to six robbers who robbed the establishment a few minutes before midnight in Barangay Poblacion Ward 3, Minglanilla.
The robbers were armed with undetermined caliber of firearms. They disarmed the security guard Ruben Maldigan Cruz, 31, of Barangay Calajo-an and under the Golden Sun Security Agency.
Cruz’s .38 revolver loaded with five bullets was also taken by the robbers.
Employees of the ga-soline station were preparing to close the establishment when the robbers on board three separate motorcycles arrived and aimed a handgun at Cruz while, others went to the cashier’s booth and served as look out.
Two robbers demanded the cash from Epefanio Sellote Jr., 43, of Barangay Tunghaan.
After the incident, robbers then speed off towards south direction. (FREEMAN)
