CEBU, Philippines - Two alleged drug pushers were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Cebu yesterday.
In Barangay Poblacion, Liloan, police nabbed Aldrin Melgar, 24, but failed to arrest the suspect's mother, Charina "Tata" Melgar, who was reportedly the subject of the buy-bust operation conducted at 7:30 pm.
Liloan Police Station chief Senior Inspector Ramil Morpos said they were about to arrest Charina when she ran inside her house and exited through a window, eventually escaping.
"Not well-lighted man gud ang ila unya wa pa gyud mi masweto sa lugar mao 'tong naka-ikyas g'yud siya," said Morpos.
Police were able to arrest Aldrin who was reportedly present during the transaction and was left behind by his mother.
Aldrin yielded seven small packs of suspected shabu, which the suspect denied owning, saying that his mother owned them.
The suspect is now detained while a hot pursuit operation is underway for his mother's arrest.
Meanwhile, another alleged drug pusher was arrested by police in Barangay Damolog, Sogod yesterday.
Suspect Crispin Arnejo alias Kit Bulhog, 45, was arrested with 75 small packs of suspected shabu with an estimated amount of P22,000.
Sogod police were armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Jerry Dicdican of the Regional Trial Court Branch 25 when they raided Arnejo's house.
Arnejo is second on the watchlist of Sogod police and is reportedly a level three drug pusher, who could dispose of at least 25 grams of shabu every week.
Sogod Police Station chief Inspector Romeo Caacoy, who led the operation, said they had been monitoring the suspect for a month after they received information from a concerned citizen about his illegal drug trade.
"Actually, since 2007 pa kuno ni siya ani iyang pagpamaligya. Nadakpan na gani ni siya sa laing unit sauna pero naka-bail ra pud then pagkawagas nibalik na sab," said Caacoy.
Aside from Sogod, the suspect reportedly also operates in Borbon town.
"Hatdan ra man kuno ni siya sa ilaha ug shabu unya wa pud kuno siya kaila kung kinsa ang tighatod niya o kung asa gikan ang drugs." added Caacoy.
The suspect is now detained and will be facing charges for drug sale and possession. —(FREEMAN)
