Crame grants Silver Eagle to 9 cop units

CEBU, Philippines - Nine police law enforcement units in Central Visayas have been granted Silver Eagle Award by the Camp Crame during the initiation stage of the Performance Governance System early this week.

This is in line with the Philippine National Police PATROL Plan 2030 enhanced by the PNP’s “Strategic Focus, CODE-P: 2013 and Beyond.”

Among the awardees were the police offices of Cebu, Siquijor, Bohol, Negros Oriental, Mandaue City and Biliran.

City offices of Dumaguete and of Guihulngan, both in Negros Oriental, as well as the Regional Public Safety Battalion-7, were also granted the same award.

PGS started last May 23 and ended last month. The official awarding rites is scheduled next week at the national headquarters in Quezon City.

According to officials, the program aims to reform the PNP to address organizational dysfunctions identified by studies and improve the quality of the delivery of police services in the country. It also aims to strengthen law enforcement capabilities and to enhance the welfare and benefits of PNP personnel.

PGS has four stages that include initiation, compliance, proficiency and institutionalization.

The Silver Eagle Award means that a police unit passed the scrutiny made by Camp Crame in the initiation stage.

In this stage, police units presented their primary and secondary drivers or initiatives and programs in determining the function of the PNP in crime prevention and in crime solution. These also include the enhancement of police community engagement, intensified police operations, intelligence and counter operations.

PGS gives much emphasis on private-public sector partnership. It considers ordinary citizen’s initiatives and their own governance programs that can contribute towards the pursuit of national strategic priorities, police said.

Further, the program also aligns private and public portfolio of initiatives and action programs with the long-term strategic needs of the country as it invites public and private individuals and institutions to strengthen and contribute to the common good of the people. — (FREEMAN)
