City police ready for start of classes

CEBU, Philippines - The city police will be utilizing a “three-pronged” approach in securing students during the resumption of classes on June 2.

City Intelligence Branch chief, Supt. Romeo Santander, explained that the three-pronged approach involves (1) identifying crime prone areas where lawless elements may take advantage of, (2) coordinating with local officials, and (3) coordinating with the Police Community Relations office for information drive for students.

Santander said their main target is to keep the students away from criminals in the streets.

Because road traffic is expected to balloon on the first day of classes, the police will be working closely with the City Traffic Operations Management as well as with security personnel in malls where many people are expected to flock.

Santander said they will also meet with the City Anti Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group for monitoring of drug pushers that might take advantage of schools with classes at night.

“Dapat lihokon na na nato, kay I know naay magpahimulos ana,” he said

The police agencies will finalize plans within the week, he said.  (FREEMAN)
