CEBU, Philippines - A 40-year-old money-lender was shot dead in Sitio Baha-baha, Barangay Poblacion, Argao, Cebu last Friday.
Police identified the fatality as Marcelina Villafuerte, resident of the said place.
Argao Police Station chief, Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos, said the victim was standing outside her house when a lone gunman, on board a blue motorcycle, arrived and shot the victim several times.
The victim was hit at the back of her head and was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.
The gunman, who was reportedly wearing a helmet and a black jacket, immediately fled from the crime scene.
Police investigators are looking at the victim’s business dealings and personal grudge as possible motives.
The victim was the business partner of former municipal councilor Joaquin Banosong, 65, who was also murdered last year.
Banosong, who was on his last term, was gunned down in June 2013.
Police arrested Reynaldo Destacamento, 32, an alleged gun-for hire and was charged for murder. He was caught in Cebu City five days after the shooting but vehemently denied the killing. — (FREEMAN)
