CEBU, Philippines - A 25-year-old man died after he was pinned under a 10-wheeler truck along the national highway in Barangay Pangdan, City of Naga last Wednesday.
Felix Alferez, resident of the said barangay, died on the spot after his motorcycle collided with the truck driven by Celso Alipuyo, 35, of Barangay Cogon.
SPO3 Ian Quitayin said the victim was reportedly under the influence of liquor while driving the motorcycle on his way home.
Quitayin, however, said that the truck went on the opposite lane where the victim was causing the collision.
Based on the initial police investigation, the truck came from Toledo City to deliver sand and gravel in Talisay City and was travelling at a high-speed when the collision happened.
Because of the impact, Alferez and his motorcycle were pinned under the truck and were dragged several meters away from the point of collision. “Naipit sila sa ilawom gigamitan pa gani ug hydraulic device aron makuha ang motor ug ang biktima,†Quitayin said.
Alipuyo is now detained at the City of Naga police stockade pending the filing of a criminal complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
The family of the victim, however, is said to be willing to settle the case amicably. (FREEMAN)
