CEBU, Philippines - Charges for carnapping and kidnapping will be filed by the Special Investigation Task Group of the Cebu Provincial Police Office against Warren Sia, the car dealer linked to the killing of two Korean nationals in Danao City.
Sia was linked to the killing by sworn affidavits of two witnesses, as well as on circumstantial evidence that he was the last person talking to the victims before the two went missing last November 12.
Recently, the SITG implemented a search warrant for carnapping and kidnapping at the warehouse owned by Sia in Barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla form which they seized a Mitsubishi Lancer.
The two witnesses are also reportedly in the car dealing business and that the two victims acted as middlemen in their transactions.
One of the witnesses admitted owning the Mitsubishi Lancer that the victims reportedly borrowed from her. However, the vehicle was no longer returned.
Meanwhile, the Hyundai Sta. Fe vehicle where the two charred bodies believed to be those of the Koreans were found, was also reportedly bought from one of the witnesses. The registration has also not been transferred because the vehicle has not been paid fully.
The SITG has asked the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory-7 to look for more evidence.
Sia’s name surfaced in the SITG investigation for his engagement surplus cars business. The Highway Patrol Group also knows him.
Sr. Supt. Noel Gillamac, CPPO director, said only the DNA test results can confirm if the bodies found in the car were indeed those of the Koreans.
“Sa among pag-analyze lang sa kaso nagtuo mi nga these missing Koreans are already dead and possibly the crime scene was inside the warehouse but its safe to say its them if we have the results,†Gillamac said in a press conference.
The SITG is also preparing a separate case for obstruction of justice against Marlo Barillo, 26, the caretaker of Sia’s warehouse, for allegedly refusing to let the authorities enter despite a search warrant.
“Hinuon nakasulod ra mi pero niharang gyud siya kay di pasudlon, amo siyang filan ug kaso,†Gillamac said. – (FREEMAN)
