CEBU, Philippines - A cargo vessel, which was carrying 10, 517 bags of fertilizers, ran aground Sunday night at Sta. Monica Point, some .5 nautical miles off Bonbon-Nueva Caceres, Oslob in southeastern of Cebu.
Cebu district commander of the Philippine Coastguard, Weniel Azcuna, said that the ship captain of MV Anna Jinky, Ricky Amario, seemed not aware that the vessel was already travelling in a shallow water.
The 177.62 gross tonnage vessel was passing through Oslob seawater from Isabel, Leyte on their way to Dipolog City, Dapitan.
“Pag-abot namo diri sa Oslob naabtan na sab mi sa dagko kaayong bawod, padulong nami shelter adto kay di na makaya ang bawod, nagpadaplin mi unya nasadsad man hinuon miâ€, apprentice crew Benson Leones told dyLA.
The vessel left Leyte port last October 2 were supposed to deliver the fertilizers to their destination.
Azcuna said that the vessel’s 20 crew including the ship captain were all safe.
As of yesterday afternoon, Azcuna said that the vessel was still waiting for the tugboat.
“So far nagpa-abot pa sila sa tugboat aron mabira ang cargo vessel,†he said.
Azcuna added that the vessel has sustained no damaged. (FREEMAN)
