CEBU, Philippines - One died when accidentally electrocuted while watching a woman who fell unconscious after touching a grounded tie wire Thursday evening in Sitio Pagutlan, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion.
Manny Comendador, 28, was just watching his neighbors helping Theresa Monlion, 33, native of Barangay Cadaruhan, Borbon, to be transported to the Child Sanitarium Eversley Hospital when he touches a grounded tie wire.
Comendador suddenly fell on the ground and suffered burns. He was rushed to the A. C. Cortes Hospital in Mandaue City but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Prior to the incident, Monlion was getting her laundry clothes from the tire wire when she suddenly collapsed.
“Mura’g basa na daan iyang kamot ato nga gikuha niya iyang nilabhan,†case investigator, PO1 Ritchie Gilleran, said in a phone interview.
Gilleran said that tire wire reportedly touches a grounded portion at the house of Monlion which she did not notice.
Angel Villacruz, a neighbor, rushed towards Monlion upon seeing her and hurriedly called their other neighbors for help.
Comendador who was one of the kibitzers failed to notice a dangling tire wire above him which caused the incident.
“Diha sa iyang ulohan ang alambre pero wala siya kabantay nga diha ra diay sa iyang gibarugan, siya na pud ang gitabang,†Gilleran said.— /GMR (FREEMAN)
