Judges ask Davide for office supplies

CEBU, Philippines - Aside from an allowance, Municipal Trial Court in Cities Executive Judge Francisco Seville said they also requested for office supplies from Governor Hilario Davide III during their courtesy call last Wednesday.

Considering the Supreme Court cannot immediately give them the supplies they need, he said they need the help of the local government units.

“We raised it because LGU can immediately respond to our needs,” he said.

Seville added that they also raised the concerns about a space for their records, water connection and a ramp and elevator for the persons with disabilities.

Because of their voluminous records, he said they lack space for their files.

However, he said they learned during their meeting with Davide that Capitol also has a problem with the lack of space.

Regarding the issue about the ramp and elevator, he said they were told that this will be tackled first before the board.

As for the issue about the allowance, Regional Trial Court Judge Simeon Dumdum said they have no knowledge whether the provincial government will discontinue or reduce their monthly allowance considering the finance issues faced by the province.

The RTC judges also raised similar concerns about supplies like paper and storage room for their files.

Dumdum said they are willing to accept whatever aid that may come from the city and the province for them.

In the past administration, judges, prosecutors and clerk of courts in Cebu City received a monthly allowance from the provincial government.  (FREEMAN)
