The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Central Visayas Regional Development Council (RDC 7) has identified 34 organizations in the region that can participate in the process of selecting new private sector representatives for the term 2013-2016.

Of the 34 organizations, 12 who passed the minimum requirements set by the RDC are in Cebu.

The organizations are Albert Schweitzer Familienwerk Foundation, Philippines, Inc.; Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cebu Contractors’ Association, Inc.; Central Cebu Board of Realtors, Inc.; Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Cebu City Chapter, Junior Chamber International Metro Cebu Uptown.

The others are Lihok Pilipina Foundation, Mag-uugmad Foundation, Inc.; National Real Estate Association, Inc. (NREA) – Cebu Chapter, Organization of Rehabilitation Agencies, PAREB – Cebu Real Estate Board, Inc.; and The Share-A-Child Movement, Inc.

These organizations are qualified to send nominees for the RDC-PSRs for the 2013-2016 term.

The term of office of members of the current RDC ended last June 30, 2013, thus a selection process for new PSRs will be undertaken for July 2013 to June 2016.

Executive Order (EO) 325 which reorganized the RDCs into its current composition fixes the term of the RDC chairperson, co-chairperson and PSRs at three years to coincide with the regular term of elected local officials.

Only PSRs undergo a selection process in the RDC, as per the EO 325 Implementing Rules and Regulations, as all the members of the council are, by virtue of their positions, ex-officio members of the RDC. —(FREEMAN)
