CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Cooperative Development Council (CCCDC) in cooperation with the Council of Leaders in Cebu City Cooperatives Inc. will conduct a seminar for Cooperative Management and Governance on May 25-26, 2013 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Cebu City Hall Social Hall.
Napoleon Sentillas, CCCDC vice chair for non-government organization (NGO) and chair of the Council of Leaders, said that the seminar is one of the identified priority training courses to be complied by officers of all cooperatives this year, pursuant to Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Memorandum Circular No. 2011-27.
CCCDC chairperson, Councilor Nida Cabrera, said that Article 44 of Republic Act (RA) 9520 and Rule 7, Section 5 of its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) provides that “officers of the cooperative shall be required to undergo necessary training conducted by cooperatives, federations and/or other trainers or training institutions duly accredited by CDA.
The training on Cooperative Management and Governance will be handled by trainers from VICTO National, a federation accredited by CDA.
Sentillas said that this course covers the knowledge in the practice of good governance and management in the cooperative, thereby enabling them to contribute to the effective operation of the cooperative as an economic and social enterprise.
The registration fee is P1,700 per participant for the two-day seminar to cover the cost of snacks, lunch, honorarium of trainers and lights. Payments will be accepted by Opel Cordova at the Office of Cebu City Councilor Edu Rama until the deadline on May 24. All checks are payable to Council of Leaders in Cebu City Cooperatives Inc.

Baquero said that all participants will be issued a Certificate of Completion which is good for five years or valid until year 2018.
Baquero added that all certificates issued to participants after the completion of the seminar will surely be recognized by the CDA because CDA 7 Felipe G. Deri is the CCCDC vice chairman.—PR/FPL (FREEMAN)
