CSC looks into city's hiring of nurses

CEBU, Philippines - The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has started its investigation on the alleged hiring of 17 nurses by the Cebu City Government without undergoing interview by the Personnel Selection Board (PSB).

CSC-7 Regional Director Karin Litz P. Zerna ordered Director II Nissi Cherith Asis, head of the CSC-Cebu South Field Office to look into this after Councilor Margarita "Margot" Osmeña brought the matter to their attention.

Osmeña asked Zerna to investigate reports that the city government hired 17 nurses for the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) and Guba Emergency Hospital without undergoing an interview with the PSB.

City Hall Personnel Head Evangeline Abatayo said the 17 nurses worked from July to December last year.

Abatayo said of the 17 nurses only three were able to undergo both the required written exam and PSB interview while three failed to take both the staff nurses' written exam and interview.

In her order to Asis, Zerna asked her field office head to evaluate the case and to recommend whatever necessary move to be done.

Osmeña also asked the CSC to provide her copies of the results of the investigation.  (FREEMAN)
