Urban poor groups support Gullas

CEBU, Philippines - The chairman of the Alayon party and Talisay mayoral candidate Eduardo Gullas has earned the support of the Federation of Talisay City Urban Poor Dwellers Association (Fetcuda).

Gullas is on his last term as first district representative to the House of Representatives. He thanked the urban poor as he vows to continuously support all the plans and programs for the sector.

Gullas urged them to stay solid and united to realize their mission of improving the plight of each member.

Talisay City is home to around 10,000 urban poor families, most of whom have made homes in communities such as Barangay Maghaway.

The Fetcuda has been receiving assistance from Gullas like the refilling station in barangay Poblacion using his P500,000-donation.

Gullas also said that he will work harder for the completion of the projects that he started on his last term as congressman. These include the expansion and widening from two lanes to four lanes of the Naga-Carcar and Tinaan, Naga to San Fernando Roads, and the realization of the Light Rail Transit (LRT).

If elected, Gullas also plans a reclamation project and if vendors return to the old Tabunok market, the market in Lagtang will be an extension school for the Talisay City College.

Earlier, seven associations of fishermen from the city's coastal barangays and 16 drivers' associations pledged their support for Gullas and the Alayon slate in the coming May 13 midterm elections.

The Biasong Fishermen Association, Pundok sa Gagmayng Mananagat sa Sawsawan of San Roque, Cansojong Fisherman Association, Poocanong Mananagat sa Talisay, Dumlog Fishermen Association, Tanke Fishermen Association and Sitio Asan Kitang Association signed a manifesto expressing their support for Gullas and his party.

The different federation of tricycle drivers also support Gullas' bid for mayor. —(FREEMAN)
