Cebu to celebrate Earth Day 2013 with Green Festival

CEBU, Philippines - The Movement of Livable Cebu in coordination with the various environmental groups will be hosting a two-day Green Festival to celebrate Earth Day 2013.

The festival slated on April 21-22 aims to promote a greener lifestyle to individuals. Festival coordinator Joel Lee is encouraging the public to join the various events organized by them.

Among the events are the Cebu green lungs bike and board tour on April 21, green film screening, green festival workshops, vinyasa yoga, and green hotel tour.

Lee said that green lungs bike and board tour is for free and has free breakfast for the first 200 participants. Bikers, skate boarders are all encouraged to take part of it. The meeting place will be at West Gorordo Hotel at 5:30 a.m., warm up and take off  at 6:30 a.m.. Text registration is also available for participants who want to reserve a slot. Many prices await for lucky registered bikers.

The green film screening will follow. It is an activity showing unusual environmental films to educate people about the Earth. This will still be held at West Gorordo Hotel at 9-10:30 am.

On the second day of the festival, Vinyasa Yoga with Jeanne Torrefranca of Dragonfly Home Yoga Studio will be held still  West Gorordo Hotel.  Torrefranca  will be teaching the first 200 participants.

Completing the events for the festival is the green workshops at 12:30-4:00 pm. Among the topics in the workshops are natural farming techniques, container gardening, paper briquette and rocket stove, vegetarian food preparation, and recycled crafting.— (FREEMAN)
