CEBU, Philippines - Senatorial candidates under United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) as well as one of UNA’s leaders, Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, graced One Cebu’s grand rally in the third district last night.
Present were senatorial candidates Milagros “Mitos†Magsaysay; Gov. Tingting Cojuangc; former Senator Ernesto Maceda; Audrey Zubiri, representing her husband, former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri; and former Rep. Catherine Gordon representing her husband, former Senator Richard Gordon.
Senator Jinggoy Estrada also attended the event.
Suspended Governor Gwendolyn “Gwen†Garcia and her brother, Rep. Pablo John “PJ†Garcia, led the caravan and rally.
Gwen said that the event was a great manifestation of unity in the third district for One Cebu.
“We are looking forward with great optimism in the coming elections nga bisan pa man sa tanan nga mga challenges ug kakuli-an nga gipahamtang sa One Cebu, ang among kusog anaa ra gihapon sa mga Sugbuanon,†Gwen said.
Pablo John, speaking as the incumbent congressman of the third district and the leader of the party, shared the observation of Gwen.
“Akong nakita nga ang tirsiro distrito mo-deliver para sa One Cebu karong umaabot nga eleksiyon,†PJ said.
Prior to the grand rally, the two Garcias visited the seven towns of the third district of Cebu to proclaim the candidates of One Cebu Party.
The caravan started with a holy mass at Sta. Ana Parish Church in Barili town and ended with a blessing at the Archdiocesan Shrine of San Antonio de Padua in Tuburan.
After the mass, Gwen who is running for congresswoman in the third district, Pablo John who is running for governor and Provincial Board Member Cesar Ian Zambo raised the hands of the complete slate of Barili led by Vice Mayor Marlon Garcia at the plaza.
Then, they proceeded to Aloguinsan where One Cebu slate led by Mayor Cynthia Moreno and husband, Vice Mayor Augustus Cesar Moreno, hosted a lunch at the town’s public market.
In front of Pinamungajan town hall, Garcia and Pablo John proclaimed One Cebu’s slate led by mayoral candidate Glen Baricuatro was raised.
The town’s incumbent mayor, Geraldine Yapha, is Gwen’s opponent in the congressional race.
In Toledo City, the slate led by Mayor Aurelio Espinosa and daughter, Vice Mayor Arlene Zambo, were proclaimed in front of Museo Toledo.
PB Member Alex Binghay joined the group in Balamban where his son, Mayor Stefan Ace Binghay led the slate of One Cebu.
Unopposed Mayor Allan Adlawan welcomed the group in front of Asturias town hall where his slate was also proclaimed before they proceeded to Tuburan for the proclamation of the town’s candidates under One Cebu led by former mayor Rose Marie Suezo.
After Tuburan, all the candidates converged at Barba Sports Complex in Toledo City where a big rally was held. (FREEMAN)
