Two employees charged for theft

Mylen P. Manto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A criminal complaint for qualified theft and the anti alias law was filed by the National Bureau of Investigation-7 against two persons for allegedly stealing cash and valuables from their employers.

The bureau charged Analyn Ramos also known as by the aliases Manilyn Tecson, Maria Elena Madaje, Manilyn Arsom, Ramy Ramos, Manilyn Ramose and Anslie Ortega Somarosa, a resident of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon; and Nilo Levanta, a resident of Barangay Antonino, Labason, Zamboanga del Norte, before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office.

The NBI filed the complaint after Mark Yu, a resident of Calderon Compound, Banawa, Cebu City and Paul John Ocaya, of Queens Road, Cebu City asked for their assistance.

Yu said that sometime in March 2012, he and his wife hired Ramos as a helper after she was recommended by Levanta.  Levanta was the driver of Ocaya, his brother-in-law.

On June 15, 2012 Yu and his family went on vacation.

However, Yu said a few days after they returned, they discovered several items including jewelry, cellphones, Metrobank checks, ATM cards, laptops, various keys and the P30,000 allowance of their children were missing.

Their other helper Regina Dandayo said three days after their employer left the items began to disappear.

“Everyone in the household searched for the missing keys and money of the children thinking that it was misplaced but to no avail,” the affidavit read.

After the search, Ramos allegedly said she was going out to “have her laptop fixed” and will return at night time but did not.

The household began to suspect Ramos might have stolen the cash and valuables and reported the incident to the police.

Dandayo said among the personal things of Ramos, they found an LBC receipt bearing the name of Maria Elena Madaje believed to be the real name of Ramos.

Meanwhile, Yu said they learned that Ramos tried to withdraw P1.5 million from their Metrobank account but failed after the personnel of Metrobank Iligan City Branch conducted a verification.

Based on the investigation of the NBI, Levanta ended his services to Ocaya before Ramos left. With that, they concluded that the two connived with each other in committing the crime.

“Without their master’s knowledge and consent, and through the use of aliases, Analyn was able to carry put deliberately her plans to steal inside the house of Yu, to the damage and prejudice of Yu, Ocaya and Concepcion Tecson, their mother,” the complaint read.   (FREEMAN)
