CEBU, Philippines - Victims of the pyramid scam are invited by the members of the Cebu City council to appear before them on Wednesday to give the body the idea of how they have fallen victims to such a trick.
The council is also inviting representatives from the National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Trade and Industry, and Securities and Exchange Commission. Councilor Alvin Dizon has proposed to invite the victims of Aman Futures Group Philippines and the government’s regulatory agencies for them to have an idea on how to prevent such scam from happening in the future.
Several people in Minda-nao and about 10 Cebuanos have fallen victims to the scam called “double your money”.
A mayor in Mindanao and 11 other individuals were tagged as the brains of the scam. In fact, a case for syndicated estafa was already filed before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against Pagadian City Mayor Samuel Co, city treasurer Flornina Gerona, a city employee and seven officials of Aman Futures Group Philippines, Inc. in connection with the P12-billion investment scam in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Dizon said the city councilors would be very happy if some of those persons who were victimized by the syndicate will appear during their session and narrate of how the group was able to convince them to invest their hard-earned money.
He explained that exposing the modus of the syndicate will help prevent other people from falling victims. —FPL (FREEMAN)
