Mediamen challenged to help address hunger, malnutrition

CEBU, Philippines - The National Nutrition council has challenged the new officers of the Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development (MIND) 7 to fight hunger and malnutrition in Central Visayas through effective information dissemination on food and nutrition promotion.

Perolita Mission, NNC-7 regional nutrition program coordinator, said during the group’s general assembly and induction of officers the other night that NNC recognizes the importance of effective information dissemination and the ability of the members of the press to carry out this thrust.

“It is through hard work, a good information network and the drive to promote good food and nutrition that we have reach this level of success,” Mission said.

The new MIND-7 officers are Jun Tagalog, general manager of DYLA (president), Phoebe Jen Indino of Manila Bulletin (vice president for print), Annabelle Lagrosas of dyMR (vice president for radio), John Ciocon (vice president for social media), Marie Nillama of the Department of Public Works and Highways (vice president for national government agencies-information officer), Jaysee Pingkian of Cebu Bloggers Society (secretary), Mitchelle Palaubsanon of The Freeman (treasurer), and Aye Lanza of Love Radio (auditor).

MIND-7 was created by NNC to widen the information dissemination reach of proper nutrition to the public through newspaper, television, radio and social media. – JMO (FREEMAN)
