CEBU, Philippines – "Diwa sa Selebrasyon" - Cebu Artists Inc.'s finale show for 2014 - was an ambivalently-themed art exhibition, one which paid homage to the birth of Christ and the celebration of the Sinulog.
Opening on December 20, last year, at the second level of the Ayala Center Cebu, the exhibit fetes paintings, illustrations and art installations made by the members and incoming members of the art group - showcasing works that point to the vistas that define Christmas in the Philippines, juxtaposed with pieces that delves into the different facets that define the Sinulog.
As with most of CAI's previous group shows, "Diwa sa Selebrasion" is a tasteful gathering of classic and contemporary-themed artpieces - a quality which stems from the organization's forays into the ins and outs of the visual arts realms.
On display until January 8, 2015, the show encouraged audiences to look beyond the compositions and tableaus that define Christmas celebrations and the revelry of the Sinulog - to remember the "why" and the "what" of the celebrations, Christmas and the Sinulog.
