Birthday & Christening

The children of Virginia "Mama Gie" Costales, otherwise known as the queen of palabok, honored her with a simple but meaningful and memorable dinner at the Casino Espanol last December 4th. The dinner affair started with a Thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Fr. Socrates Saldua.

Mama Gie was so overwhelmed that she made a remarkable speech thanking her children here and abroad for the wonderful things they have done for her. She also thanked her loyal friends from the defunct Inner Wheel and members of the community where she belongs…the Jesu Christi Community of Cebu. Her daughter Alice gifted her with a birthday cake formed with 79 pieces of cupcakes. It was marvelous indeed. So, instead of the usual cutting of the cake to be served to the guests, they were given each one or two cupcakes. Everyone went home with "bring house" cupcakes with them.

And speaking of Jesu Christi…Capt. Joe Cabugao and wife Lita were quite excited to be called Great Grand Parents (GG for short) when grandson Joem and wife Anna were blessed with a handsome baby boy and was christened Aaron James. Dinner reception followed at the Ching Palace resto with Joem's parents Capt. Clifford and Mahly Cabugao in dancing attendance.
