When you put together high-caliber fashion and luxury cars, there are countless ways to show them all off in one spectacle and this year's Gear and Glam, The Northwing at SM City Cebu's annual fashion show did just that, yet again. Each year, the shows have become bigger and more exciting, and this time, the original creations of the Fashion Council of Cebu and the cars of the Performance and Classic Car Enthusiasts sent guests and mall viewers on a trip around the world's fashion capital…from Tokyo to Paris, Milan to London, and Mosco to New York.
Through Tokyo's Harajaku streets, Edwin Ao's and Oj Hofer's sleek silhouettes were accompanied by Harold Ong Badile's 2009 Nissa GTR and Chris Aldeguer's 1998 Lotus Elise. Then it was on to the rues of Paris, the home of haute couture, with the romantic and feminine designs of Jun Escario and Arcy Gayatin, side by side with Glenn Soco's 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder and Bobby Aboitiz's 1955 Mercedes Benz 190 SL. Through the streets della mode of Milan, models in Yvonne Quisumbing's and Vania Romoff's textured and sculpted creations stepped out of Glenn Soco's 1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider and Kenneth Cobonpue's 1988 Ferrari GTS.
Then it was on to London, interpreted by Albert Arriba's and Ditas Rodriguez's quirky designs, and Grand Benedicto's 1965 Jaguar Kougar and Kenneth Cobonpue's 1961 Jaguar E Type Roadster. Through Moscow's thriving streets walked models in Philipp Tampus' and Cary Santiago's opulent and ornately crafted pieces with Jay Aldeguer's 1962 Porsche 356b and Mike Jo's Volkwagen Notchback. Lastly, in good old New York, Philip Rodriguez's and Rey Santos' cinema-inspired gowns were accompanied by Darren Deen's 1960's Chevy Corvette C1 and Louie Uy Masuy's 1966 Pontiac GTO.
For the finale, all the cars and models featured in the show, as well as members of the Fashion Council of Cebu and the Performance and Classic Cars Enthusiasts took to the stage for the crowd's enthusiastic applause. The affair was a huge success! Congratulations!
