For many years now, our dear City Mayor envisioned a beautiful city for the beautiful people of Cebu to see and enjoy our heritage. This was the opening statement of the inimitable Monette Aliño, the emcee for the afternoon’s historic event…the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the Beautiful Cebu Movement Foundation, Inc. and Visayan Electric Company.
In 2011, this public-private partnership was launched headed by Dame Mariquita Yeung who considered this a gigantic task: to reinvigorate, rehabilitate, restore and make Osmeña Boulevard (for a start), beautiful, safe and secure. After gathering some ladies who shared the vision, the body consulted with several government and private agencies. And one of them was VECO - definitely a major player in Cebu.
Our Victorian-inspired lamp posts installed not only for lighting but also for the safety and security of many sadly needed “first aid†and that God, VECO came to the rescue.
So last June 25, there was a brief celebration – the formal signing of a Deed of Donation with the ceremonial turn-over of Copper Wire worth P267,264.28. Veco was represented by SVP & COO Sebastian Lacson and accepted by Dame Mariquita Yeung…all under the watchful eyes of the Honorable Mike Rama.
After the singing and turn-over ceremonies, cocktails followed at the Adelfa Room of Cebu City Marriott Hotel.

Sixty years of togetherness
Diamond couple Ronald and Poten Silvosa had a thanksgiving Mass at the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Church in Punta Princesa last June 29 to celebrate 60 years of living and loving each other “of giving the best they have to give, of dreaming, growing, living the life they want to live!â€
Roland and Poten were with us when we toured the Holy Land 10 years ago. At the time, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Time has elapsed so fast that two weeks ago, their diamond anniversary was celebrated.
The couple have four children: Dr. Lorna and Boy Silvestre with daughter Janelle; Elsa and Boy Rivera with children Ron, Ria and Angel; Raul with son Mark and Ziggy; Ruel and Macela Silvosa with Harvee.
Roland and Poten Silvosa and their children were all grateful to a dear friend, Meren Gepilano who organized the affair, and the event turned out to be a very successful one!
