CEBU, Philippines - Since 2003, CHILD (Center for Health Improvement and Life Development) Haus has served as temporary home for indigent children suffering from cancer and other life-threatening conditions, offering its services to those in need.
Founded by celebrity hairdresser and civic worker Ricky Reyes, the venue has provided shelter for outpatients hailing from the provinces, offering them with a place to stay while waiting for medical diagnosis and/or the completion of medical procedures in Manila.
With free room and board as part of its offered services, the shelter has helped more than 7,000 patients since its founding, not just as a temporary shelter but also as a venue where emotional, spiritual and mental healing takes place through organized programs and activities.
Relying solely on donations for its operating expenses, Reyes and fellow advocates to Child Haus’ cause have been adamant in doing what they can in easing the suffering experienced by cancer stricken children and their families.
With plans of opening a Child Haus site here in Cebu, Ricky Reyes will be in the city this January 24, 2013, to talk about Child Haus, what it stands for and how much of an impact a Child Haus site in the province could have in the lives of children dealing with the pangs of cancer.
Partnering with The Rotary Club of Cebu, the talk will be held in Ballroom I of the Cebu City Marriott Hotel right next to the Ayala Center Cebu in the Cebu Business Park district, to start at noon.
All of Cebu is invited to drop by and learn more about Child Haus, whose base advocacies are rooted in truly being of service to those in need.
