CEBU, Philippines - If you loved “Cool For the Summer,” then prepare yourselves for your new favorite Demi Lovato tune.
The 23-year-old pop star has dropped the second single from her forthcoming album of the same name.
The upbeat single comes about one-month before the release of Lovato’s fifth album, which is expected to hit airwaves on October 16.
“Get my next single #Confident when you pre-order the album on @AmazonMusic now ahhhh!!!” the former Disney star wrote on Twitter.
Like the name suggests, the tune reflects Lovato’s new-found confidence after years of struggling with her self-esteem.
“For the first time in a long time, I feel incredibly empowered and the most beautiful I’ve ever felt on this magazine,” Lovato wrote on Instagram of her recent Cosmopolitan cover, which received backlash for being too sexy.
“It’s so liberating to be able to show the world how confident a woman can be once she learns to love herself. It took soul searching and a bit of time before I embraced my body therefore I could not have been more excited to do this shoot.”
The singer-songwriter, who has spoken at length about her past issues with substance abuse, body image and self-esteem, also told E! News that it was important for her show fans how she now embraces her body.
“It took so much for me to get a place where I would feel comfortable enough to do that,” Lovato said. “If anything, it’s showing all of my fans who know my story and my journey that I’ve gone from hating every inch of my body to doing a photo shoot in my underwear in front of the entire world. That’s more of statement to me than just looking sexy on a magazine cover.”
