CEBU, Philippines – Chris Brown was barred from leaving the country, a day after his Manila concert.
This was after the Department of Justice (DOJ) issued an immigtation lookout bulletin against the American artist.
According to reports, Brown was to supposed to leave for Hong Kong at 1 p.m. on Wednesday via a private plane.
However, the R&B singer was told by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines that he needs to secure a clearance from the DOJ first before he can leave the country.
The DOJ acted upon a request from the Iglesia Ni Cristo chief counsel seeking to stop Brown from leaving the country due to an estafa case they will file against the 26-year-old singer.
The estafa case is for the New Year’s countdown event Brown failed to perform in last December, Iglesia ni Cristo lawyer Glicerio Santos IV said.
Brown was supposed to appear in a New Year’s countdown concert at the Philippine Arena last December. However, a few hours before the event, he cancelled his appearance due to “unfortunate circumstances.”
