CEBU, Philippines - Today, GMA Network’s Visita Iglesia is set to take viewers to a young Archdiocese located in the heart of the province of Misamis Oriental – The Divine Mercy Hills in El Salvador City.
From a dream, the Divine Mercy Hills was discovered in 2003 during the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes and since 2008, it has been the home of the 50 feet Divine Mercy Statue, so far the tallest in the world.
The Divine Mercy Shrine is perched on tranquil hills overlooking the majestic Macajalar Bay and is surrounded by soothing landscapes, suggesting it to be a holy place of worship and devotion.
Towering on the hills is the 50-foot statue of The Divine Mercy. Concealed in its rays are stairs leading up to the heart of the statue which houses the Blessed Sacrament. Behind the foot of the statue stands the Church of Mercy, its architectural design inspired by the passion of Christ; the roof represents Jesus’ head crowned with thorns and in front of the church is large, slightly tilted cross signifying Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection.
The Shrine gained pilgrimage so fast that it soon became the center of Divine Mercy Eucharistic celebrations in Mindanao.
Visita Iglesia will be airing Holy Mass straight from The Divine Mercy Shrine today, August 25, at 6:00AM to 07:00AM.
