Be prepared
With gifts unwrapped and stored, the New Year is now on a full swing. I thank all those who remembered to greet me both in the season and in my recent celebration of age. My wish remains for all of us to have good health, peace of mind, a country that is led by people who will take us to the right direction and have a strong anchor on God.
The year ahead is challenging with the upcoming elections in the periphery. It is hard to know what will happen next as the state of our country also determines the health of our business. We can only pray that those God will put in place have our best interests at heart.
Climate change continues to be a worldwide concern that threatens not only our food security but also the livability of some of the dwellings. Some of our food producers are located in areas prone to floods and landslides. Most if our homes are not even resilient to earthquakes. And being in the Pacific ring of fire, we can already see our dormant volcanoes acting up.
Plus there are these different strains of whatever disease that has mutated whether intentionally or not, that continues to threaten our health system. How prepared are we to cope with another devastating virus?
Well, much as I do not want to start the year with thinking about the ominous, i just want us to reflect on preparedness. Our government will need each citizen to be ready. The GO Bag may be a simple way to start. A survival kit somehow must be prepared. And if you have one, check that it is updated and you don’t end up staging stale stuff with you.
Remember Noah built the ark on top of a mountain where people never heard of storms. That is the kind of preparation we need to have. A foresight guided by how we read the times. Those who are good with algorithms can possibly see the trends. For the rest of us, let us observe and prepare.
God bless us all! Happy NewYear!
