CEBU, Philippines — Dr. Brian To, a renowned British global strategist, will lead an exclusive strategy leadership seminar in partnership with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).
The masterclass, to be held on November 19, 2024 at the City Sports Club, is designed for corporate decision-makers, business leaders, and government officials and is part of a groundbreaking initiative to elevate strategic thinking in the Philippines.
The seminar, structured as a three-part series, will focus on key aspects of corporate strategy: Strategy Formation, Strategy Development, and Strategy Execution.
The course adopts the esteemed Harvard Method case study approach, ensuring participants gain practical, actionable insights into best practices in global business strategy.
In an interview with Dr. To, he said that the seminar comes at a crucial time when foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Philippines is declining, prompting him to emphasize the need for businesses to rethink and recalibrate their strategies.
Many companies invest millions in strategic works, but without proper planning and execution, these investments often fail to yield results, said Dr. To.
His message underscored the importance of sound strategic planning for sustainable growth, especially in the rapidly changing post-COVID global landscape.
In addition to the seminar, Dr. To announced the upcoming launch of the Advanced Masters in Strategic Studies program at the National Development College of the Philippines (NDCP).
The program is specifically tailored to address the needs of local businesses and government entities, providing a comprehensive education in strategy that blends global best practices with the realities of the Philippine market.
With global shifts, including the recent changes in U.S. leadership, Dr. To noted that the Philippines must be prepared for economic and political changes that may arise as a result. The seminar encourages forward-thinking and highlights the importance of adapting to these evolving dynamics.
We are in a unique position to take control of our future if we plan strategically and embrace the already underway changes, Dr. To said.
Empowering Cebu s Leaders
The first batch of participants in the program was on June 2024, it included CEOs, business leaders, and government officials from across the region in Cebu.
Dr. To stressed the need for Cebu to rise as a regional business hub, noting that the city should no longer be overshadowed by Metro Manila.
Cebu has the potential to be a global player; we just need to empower our leaders with the right tools and knowledge, he said.
As part of his ongoing commitment to the Philippines, Dr. To is donating his professional fees from the seminar to the Simply Share Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to providing sustainable solutions to underserved communities.
With this initiative, Dr. To aims to help Cebu s business and government leaders gain the strategic acumen necessary to navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing global economy while also contributing to the local community.
