CEBU, Philippines — The Bluewater Resorts Group announced to develop the first surfing attraction in Cebu in Sumilon Island at the southern part of the province.
The group’s marketing and communications manager Enrico Monsanto announced that its property on the island, Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort, is now contracting local surfers to lead the resort’s surfing workshop for tourists and local surfing enthusiasts alike to learn the water sport.
According to Monsanto, the resort is capitalizing on the “habagat” or moonson season, which provides bigger waves on the waters along southern Cebu strait that is good for surfing.
Starting the months of July to November, the waters along Oslob and Sumilon Island are good for surfing sports.
At present, the Group is on the process of opening The Water Surf Academy at the Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort set tentatively by October this year.
Bluewater has already contracted the Lapu-Lapu Stand Up Paddle Club, to tap international certified paddling instructors to teach surfing to clients.
As soon as the “habagat” season starts, the surfing academy will be opened to the public, he added.
Once opened, southern Cebu natural tourism circuit will have an additional attraction that would complement the Oslob Whale Watching and other heritage and nature-based come-ons.
