CEBU, Philippines - Taking advantage of the growing awareness for health and wellness, insurance giant Philippine American Life and General Insurance (PhilAm Life) is officially bringing its "Vitality" program to Cebu, promoting physical and emotional wellness through reward system.

Known to lead the promotion of financial literacy, PhilAm pioneers the paradigm shift of introducing a holistic approach in life security, which is not only to get insured financially, but also being physically secured or healthy.

Two weeks after the official roll out of the PhilAm "Vitality" program in Cebu, it already registered 50 thousand active users, said PhilAm agency manager and certified investment solicitor  Nilo Matunog, in a press conference held yesterday.

PhilAm Vitality program is the country's first science-backed wellness program that guides and encourages its members to achieve real changes to their health.

This program is offered even to non-PhilAm policy holders, but for everybody who wants to achieve healthy lifestyle, with the aid of the program's reward motivators, such as discounts in fitness centers or gyms, movie theaters, and health-related merchants.

Aside from card membership, the program also has mobile access called PhilAm Vitality Active, a free app version of the program that allows users to enjoy rewards.

According to Matunog, this program is not entirely tied-up with the company's insurance policy marketing, although it will help the company to sustain its leadership in the market.

While other players are focusing more on raising the financial literacy in the Philippines by educating the mainstream market to save wisely, PhilAm on the other hand is taking the opposite road by achieving a daily healthy lifestyle.

Matunog said the company believes that life should be lived under a physically healthy and financially wealthy," environment.

The insurance business is typically associated with morbid things like death, sickness, and accidents. On the other hand, PhilAm Life wants policyholders to live longer, healthier. (FREEMAN)
