Lenovo Philippines making presence felt in local areas

CEBU, Philippines - Mobility device maker Lenovo Philippines aims to strengthen its presence in the provincial or non-urban areas chasing up the robust interest on gadgets in these markets.

Market for mobile gadgets, including personal computers in the Philippines offers a more promising future, despite the entry of more brands in the market,  said Lenovo Philippines country general manager Michael Ngan in a press conference.

While Lenovo concept stores are present in major urban centers in the Philippines like Cebu, Manila, Davao, this year the Chinese-American technology brand is going to the grassroots complementing with the government thrust to offer free WiFi in public place across the country.

Recently, Lenovo has started to make improvements to their 21 concept stores nationwide, including Cebu.

"We remain confident and bullish, despite tougher competition, as the country’s economy remains healthy and with all of these growth prospects that would benefit the IT and retail industries,” said Ngan adding that aside from the households in the provincial areas that need PCs, the young market across social status is also a good source to sustain the bullish business in the country, amid the entry of more brands.

 "If you look at the global scale, Lenovo as a brand has remained on top and relevant. We remain a top player in the mobile space," Ngan added.

Aside from its aggressive plan to penetrate the broad northern part of Luzon, more areas in the Visayas and Mindanao can expect presence of Lenovo stores starting this year.

Ngan agreed that the country's PC business has dwindled, however, he defended that the PC industry is still worth $200 billion.

Lenovo is a $39 billion global Fortune 500 company and a leader in providing innovative consumer, commercial, and enterprise technology.

 Last year, Lenovo acquired Motorola brand and Motorola's portfolio of innovative smartphones like Moto X, Moto G, Moto E and the DROIDTM series, as well as the future Motorola product roadmap.

This move puts Lenovo as the world’s third largest maker of smartphones. (FREEMAN)
