Usually Autocross Events are held in large parking lots and wide open spaces. This type of motorsports allows a driver to find out their car's limits in a safe venue. Last weekend, Consolacion hosted its first ever autocross dubbed "Autocross la Consolacion" which was held on the Sta. Lucia grounds. The place is a subdivision type area with gutters and sidewalks.
At first look, it bears a striking resemblance to a street circuit. And like a controlled street races, there were no run-off areas so the margin for error is relatively small compared to a normal autocross track. The difference is that the fear here is magnified compared to the usual autocross layout in an open parking lot or a purpose built race track.
Street tracks have a certain charm to it as driving the course is a whole new experience from the usual autocross races held here in Cebu as the track design is a mix of high speed sections with technical corners and chicanes. The track bears a striking similarity with the Alabang Vios Cup track since both areas are developed for the same commercial use.
If you are a car enthusiast and a fan of racing, especially autocrosses, I would highly recommend you trying a street autocross track. The feel and experience is totally different from an ordinary autocross. This has a more "time attack-circuit" feel to it. And the things you learn on this type of track is also unique.
The Cebu Autocross has been organized to handle these events, be it in a purpose built, controlled Go Kart track like Kartzone or in makeshift street races. If you are interested in this form of racing, it would be wise to get educated first. Cebu Autocross offers driving clinics to motoring enthusiasts. Checkout their facebook page and find out if you have what it takes to be an autocross racer.
