Super Metro Lapu-Lapu set to open on August 6

CEBU, Philippines - Vicsal Development Corporation is all set to formally open Super Metro Lapu-Lapu City in Barangay Pajo this August 6 as the retail giant tries to penetrate the bustling retail scene in the country’s guitar capital.

After a construction period and initial preparations that lasted for about a year, the retail establishment is now standing by to provide Oponganons and neighboring cities and towns a dose of its hypermarket concept features.

The new structure is a compact mall incorporating a department store into a supermarket. Additional food areas will also be made available inside the three-storey building. Other services include a lotto outlet, foreign exchange stall, bills payment, beauty salon, optical shop and games and amusement center for kids.

It will also feature the first walkalator in Lapu-Lapu City inside a retail store for more shopping convenience. The parking space has more than 30 car slots.

Officials said this Super Metro store spans a gross floor area of 15,800 square meters with selling area totaling 5,874.60 square meters.

In an interview with Metro Supermarket managing director Eric Poiret, he said that the upcoming opening will be part of their aggressive efforts to expand to many other key areas in the Philippines while they extensively develop the hypermarket concept.

Poiret was also in Bogo City two weeks ago where they opened the first store with a hypermarket concept in northern Cebu.

Taking inspiration from their established stores here in Cebu, Poiret expressed high hopes that this new store will also take a good market reception from Cebuanos, saying that what makes this store different from any other is its competitive prices and deals.

As a hypermarket, 60 percent of what’s being sold in the store will be food products. The remaining 40 percent will comprise dry goods and general merchandise which include fashion items, office and school supplies, toys, furniture and household appliances.

Officials said the grand opening will offer the public lots of buy-one, take-one deals, discounts of up to 50 percent and freebies for a designated minimum purchase price.

At the opening, crooner and celebrity Richard Poon will join the guests during the ribbon cutting ceremony.  Bryan Termulo and Jon Lucas are also set to perform live on August 10 at 4 p.m. during a mini variety show at Super Metro Lapu-Lapu City.

The opening will be sponsored by Mario d Boro Shoes, BNY Jeans, Paklane Hotel and Cardam Shoes.

After Lapu-Lapu City branch’s opening, company officials will then turn their focus on the opening of their new outlets in Colon, in Mambaling and in Carcar City. Other branches will also be opened in the cities of Bacolod and Quezon.
